F - 117A NIGHT HAWK
The Stealth Fighter-Bomber

The F-117A Night Hawk began as a Russian theory that a plane with flat exterior panels arranged at differing angles would be invisible to radar.

American scientists took note of the Russian research paper and as computerized flight controls  and aerospace technology improved the US military realized that it could actually build an airplane that could not be seen by most types of radar.

The F-117A Nighthawk was first used in Panama and later saw heavy action in the first Iraq war. One was shot down by a missile in Europe when Serbians figured out how to track it using long-wave radar signals.  As a result the Russia military got a chance to inspect the wreckage of the once super-secret plane.  The wreckage is still on public display today.

Currently the US Air Force is planning to retire the F-117A as stealthy new F-22s come on line.

The replica is a hand carved model made from mahogany that is true to the design of the real aircraft.  It is finished in a high gloss lacquer that gives the richly colored, reddish-brown-wood an almost mirror finish.

The model plane is not a kit.  It is complete and ready to be placed on the display stand which is included.  It will make an excellent addition to your home or office decor.
