 Fifty two years after its first flight, the T-37 is the only currently-serving U.S. military aircraft built by Cessna.
 Over 1,000 planes were built, with more than 500 still serving in the United States Air Force. The plane was developed as a trainer to teach cadets how to fly jet aircraft. But during the Vietnam era it was pressed into combat after its engines were upgraded, wings strengthened, and cameras and gun sights were added to its equipment list.
